Prof. Alfred Tovias

Former Director of the Leonard Davis Institute for International Relations at the same University (2005-2010). Holds also the EU-sponsored Jean Monnet Chair on External Economic Relations of the EU. Recently functioning as Visiting Professor at the IESE and at the IBEI, both based in Barcelona(Spain).

Dr. Shai Moses

shaimosesDr. Shai Moses is an experienced post-doc researcher in International Political Economy related areas. He has spent many years at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he has been studying, researching and teaching, in a broad range of areas including International Relations, Economics, European Studies, Business Administration and World Trade Organization (WTO) affairs. Notably, in his PhD dissertation he examined the development of supranational governance in the European Union Single Market and its effects on the political economy of liberalizing trade in services.

Dr. Tal Sadeh

talsadehDr. Tal Sadeh is senior lecturer at the Department of Political science in Tel Aviv University (TAU) and Co-President of the Israeli Association for the Study of European Integration (IASEI). In recent years he also held executive positions in the European Union Studies Association and in Israeli Association for International Studies. He holds a PhD in International Relations and an MA degree cum laude in Economics, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI). His research and teaching interests include international political economy, and the political economy of the EU, in particular the single currency and EU-Israeli relations, as well as international institutions and governance structures. At the end of 2012 Dr. Sadeh was elected President of IASEI. Dr. Sadeh established cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Israeli-European Policy Network, with the help of which he organized conferences and seminars throughout 2013-2014. With the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Israel he initiated and managed the building of a new website of IASEI. Prior to his academic career Dr. Sadeh was a market analyst at the foreign exchange department of the Bank of Israel, in the early 1990s, a foreign exchange dealer in Union Bank of Israel, and an economist at HUJI. He wrote his PhD dissertation in 1995-2000 under the supervision of Prof. Alfred Tovias and Prof. Emanuel Adler at HUJI on the politics of the European single currency. Following that Dr. Sadeh was research fellow at Brown University and post-doctoral fellow at HUJI.

Professor Elise S. Brezis

Elise S. Brezis is Professor of Economics at Bar-Ilan University. She is the head of the Aharon Meir Center for Banking and Economic Policy in Israel, and she is also the director of the Forum macro in Israel. Previously, she was the deputy director of the Economics department. She also was the head of the Statistics division in the Bank of Israel, and was the President of the Israeli Association for European Studies,


She holds a PhD in Economics from MIT (USA) specializing in the field of international economics and economic growth. 

Today, her research interests cover a wide range of topics related to economic development and growth, from implementing new technologies and R&D to higher education and corruption. She also works in the field of international economics and the economics of the EU. In the field of economic growth, she has developed a theory, coined leapfrogging with the Nobel Laureate, Paul Krugman.

She was invited as visiting professor to many universities, and in particular to the College de France, Rutgers University, Shanghai CEIBS, Nanjing University and also in South Korea. She has published articles in leading journals as the American Economic Review and the European Economic Review, and she is the laureate of the 2020 Elinor Ostrom prize.

Professor Arie Reich

אריהרייךתמונהProfessor Arie Reich is the former Dean of the Faculty of Law of Bar Ilan University, Israel and he is a Jean Monnet Professor of EU Law & Institutions. He is himself a graduate of Bar Ilan University as well as of the Birkat Moshe Hesder Yeshiva in Ma'aleh Adumim. He earned his Master and Doctorate in Law from the University of Toronto, and specializes in International Economic Law and EU Law.
