Shmuel (Sammy) Revel
In 1996, Sammy became the first Head of Mission of the Trade Representation Office of Israel in Doha, Qatar. In 2009 He published a book about Qatar and Its relations with Israel: "Israel at the Forefront of the Persian Gulf – The Story of an Israeli Mission in Qatar" (Yedioth Ahronoth Books). Since 1999, Sammy Revel is dealing with European Affairs in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1999 to 2002 he served as Deputy Chief of the Mission of Israel to the European Union and NATO in Brussels. Between 2002 and 2005 he was the Director of European Division 3 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (including the responsibility for relations with the OECD).
From 2005 to 2008 he was Director of the European Organizations Department (relations with the European Union, NATO, the Council of Europe and the OSCE) in the MFA. Between 2008 and 2012 he served as Deputy Chief of Mission (Minister Plenipotentiary) of the Embassy of Israel in Paris. Upon his return from Paris, in August 2012, he served as Minister in the Multilateral Affairs Directorate of the MFA.
From 2014 Sammy Revel is serving in his current position as Head of Bureau of the European Division in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He holds a B.A. in Computer Science and Mathematics and an M.A. in Philosophy, History and Sociology of Science from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
He is proficient in English, French and Hebrew and speaks intermediate German.
